This year I offered two different sets for holiday mini sessions, and I still can’t pick a favorite. The sweet and cozy Christmas bed matched up perfectly with smiling kids in winter pajamas, but the classic fireplace hearth is timeless and beautiful. Which would you prefer for your holiday cards?
I don’t know how it happened, but another year has (almost) come and gone. In typical fashion, life whirls by and I’m too busy enjoying it (and working two jobs and raising three kids) to remember to update the blog. So here we are, doing a years worth of updates. First, let’s all ooooh and ahhhhh over the adorably cute cake smash sessions of 2022.
Amidst the chaos and uncertainty of 2020, one thing is still true… babies + cake = adorable.
I love the tradition of letting baby smash their very own cake during a First Birthday portrait session. Some babies love the cake, some hate it, but either way, it’s 100% adorable.
Here are some of my favorite First Birthday session memories of 2020. And a big thanks to Melanie at Sweet Stuff Bake Shop (Norton, MA) for creating the amazing smash cakes.
There’s no doubt that 2020 will be a year that none of us will forget. Schools closed, toilet paper shortage, sanitizing everything, masks, limited gatherings….
But these families will remember 2020 for a much better reason. They welcomed a perfect bundle into their homes.
Let’s look back at the adorable Piggy Toes babies of 2020.
Meet Molly Kate. Such a tiny little lady, already surrounded by so much love. It was such a great day, chatting with her family, while Miss Molly snoozed away. We went with neutrals, shades of purple, and one holiday set, and I love each and every photograph.
I had the best morning with this beautiful family, who just welcomed a new baby sister to the mix. She’s calm and sweet and oh so pretty, and so loved by her parents and big brothers and sister. All of the kiddos were so well behaved, and I love every single image in her gallery.
This age is definitely a favorite of mine… just when baby can sit unassisted, but isn’t quite ready for crawling.
Beautiful Maeve was such a pleasure to photograph, with her creamy skin and adorable little smile. I’m already looking forward to her birthday session this winter.
I had the best time with this fun family, who had gathered to celebrate their 40th anniversary! The weather was perfect, the children were well behaved, and we caught some beautiful memories that are sure to be cherished by their family for years to come.
I love when families return to the studio for the second, or in this case, third baby! It’s so fun to catch up with the parents and see how the older siblings have grown… not to mention get in some sweet baby snuggles. This handsome baby boy is already oh so loved. Welcome, sweet boy.
I had the most fun morning with these two sweet faces. We giggled, tickled, sung songs, and had such a fun time. The best part was when big sister decided to help her brother with his cake. And what followed was pure magic. Happy Birthday, handsome boy!
Meet Marissa. She’s just as sweet as she beautiful, and couldn’t have joined a more loving family. Her big brothers love to snuggle and hold her, and mom and dad are definitely thrilled to have a baby girl to balance out their home. Welcome, sweet little one.
I had the pleasure of working with this family almost four years ago for big brother Owen’s newborn session… and I was so excited when I heard he was going to be a big brother. Sweet baby Cora is beautiful and loves her brother oh so much… they are a perfect pair.
I had such a fun morning meeting this sweet girl, her big brother, and mama. The camera just loves her beautiful baby face, and I loved watching how much her brothers loves her! We already have plans in the works for her birthday session, so we’ll get to see them again in just a few short months.
This girl… so sweet and fun and silly and beautiful! Her big sisters were all so excited to celebrate Adaline’s first birthday, and she did not disappoint. So many adorable baby smiles, and she sure loved here cake, too! Happy Birthday, baby girl.
Sweet Cooper was back to celebrate his first birthday! He brought along his beautiful big sister and some super cute baby smiles. We giggled, sang songs, and watched Cooper shyly play with his very own birthday cake. Happy Birthday, sweet boy!
It was such a pleasure to spend the morning with this handsome little chunk and his parents. I love the joy and excitement of first time parents, and how they are totally over the moon in love with this new member of their family. We snuggled and laughed, and I can’t wait to watch him grow. Welcome, sweet boy.
Everyone loves a new baby… especially when the baby is as sweet and gentle and little Grayson. He was perfectly behaved for his very first portrait session, and loved being wrapped and swaddled. Welcome to the world, sweet boy.
Meet Ivy. She’s sweet and shy, calm and cuddly, and oh so beautiful. She has eyes that just catch the light beautifully, and was such a joy to photograph. I love all of the vintage inspired outfits that we used for her session, too. Happy birthday, darling girl.
Handsome Landon is back… and he’s such a big boy now that he can sit on his own. These babies just grow up altogether too fast. He’s sweet and shy, loves his mama , and has the most adorable baby blues. Happy half year, Landon.
Levi gets a gold star for his sitter session. He was in and out in about 30 minutes, and we’re left with a huge gallery of sweet and smiley faces. I just adore his big dark eyes, handsome grin, and awesome head of hair. Next time we see Levi, it will be for his birthday session this summer!
